The Apple iPhone 17 finally gets a display upgrade

The most recent information comes from known tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared the details on Weibo. Apple is reportedly planning to increase the display refresh rate on its standard and Plus models. To recall, the Pro and Pro Max variants support the ProMotion display technology, which provides a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. This feature may eventually become universal across the entire 2025 iPhone lineup.

The tipster claims that the iPhone 17 will support a higher refresh rate, though the exact rate is unknown. So it is entirely possible that the Cupertino-based behemoth will make you settle for just a 90Hz refresh rate. This panel may also not support variable or adaptive refresh rates. However, this is all speculation at this time. Unfortunately, that is all the information provided by Digital Chat Station.

Apple is also working on a new iPhone 17 Air model, which has reportedly entered a new production phase. This model is rumored to be only 5 to 6mm thick. Similarly, a Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is in the works, which will likely compete with this new model. An early render leak also teased the iPhone 17 Pro series’ camera design, which was inspired by Google Pixel.
