Upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra's global launch date officially announced

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has recently been the subject of numerous rumors, leaks, and official teasers, leading up to its initial unveiling in China on February 26. While we do not know when the device will become official in Xiaomi’s home market, the company has revealed the date it will be available in global markets: March 2.

That is the day before MWC begins in Barcelona, Spain, so we assume Xiaomi’s launch event will also take place there, as it is customary for phone makers to hold launch events the weekend before MWC begins (which is always on a Monday, and this year is March 3).

If history repeats itself in 2024, expect the ‘vanilla’ Xiaomi 15 to make its global debut alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, while the Pro remains limited to the Chinese market.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has already appeared in leaked renders and hands-on photos. According to recent rumors, its camera capabilities will be unrivaled, at least in terms of hardware, as it is expected to feature a 50 MP main snapper with a 1-inch type sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP short-range telephoto, and a 200 MP long-range periscope telephoto using the same sensor as the vivo X100 Ultra and X200 Pro.

Take a look at a sample shot or a full video shot on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra to get a sense of what to expect from its cameras. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and will reportedly have a 6,000 mAh battery capable of 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. It will run Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 on top from the start. Pricing should be consistent with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
